Infections associated with healthcare - a still serious problem of healthcare in Poland

The infections associated with healthcare are a threat to primarily of hospitalized patients. People with reduced immunity are at the greatest risk. Problem of nosocomial infections concerns several percent of patients. Nosocomial infections are unavoidable and they are partly the result of medical progress. They are usually caused by multi-drug resistant bacteria with high spreading potential. The problem of nosocomial infections can be minimized through adequate control and monitoring systems. This study includes the analysis of the latest data on nosocomial infections and their bacterial etiological factors in Poland and other European countries.
