Current epidemiological situation of neoplastic diseases in Poland. An analysis of data of current epidemiological studies of malignant neoplastic diseases indicates that in Poland: cancer is the second cause of mortality after cardiovascular diseases, in the years 1992-2002 significant decrease of mortality cased by malignant tumors of lungs has been observed in adult and elderly patients, the greatest dynamics in increase demonstrated morbidity and mortality caused by the cancer of large intestine, five years survival rates of cancer patients is significantly lower than in other European countries, the most important risk factors of cancer are diet (35%) and smoking tobacco (30%), environmental factors are responsible for 80% of new cancers.
