Radiofarmaceutyki peptydowe w diagnostyce i terapii
2006-04-16
Peptide radiopharmaceutics in diagnostics and therapy. A variety of peptides labeled with isotopes have been applied in oncology, neurology and cardiology in nuclear medicine departments. These compounds can be used for visualization of inflammatory foci as well, as vascular disorders (arteriosclerosis, embolism, cardiac infarction). The application of both diagnostic and therapeutic peptides in several medicine disciplines have important reasons. Shortlived radionuclide present in small peptides are define very sensitive, precise and specific radiopharmaceuticals. Their binding to specific membrane receptors gives valuable information for diagnostics and therapy. A data on their radiobiodistribution in the body gives helpful information on adequate treatment of unknown sicknesses and site-directed radiotherapy.
