Influence of macromolecular components on physical-chemical parameters and antimicrobial activity of sucking tablets containing chlorhexidine. The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of macromolecular components on physical-chemical parameters and antimicrobial activity of sucking tablets which contain chlorhexidine. Using the wet granulation method, several series of tablets containing 5 mg of chlorhexidine dihydrochloride and 5 mg of chlorhexidine dihydrochloride with 200 mg of choline salicylate were prepared. In the first compositions of tablets, the following binding agents used in the wet granulation process: the 2% gruel of PVP, the HPMC, the PVA, the MC and the starch soluble. It was found that among all analyzed substances which increased viscosity, the best agent was PVP which also affected antimicrobiological activity of the active substances. The investigation of antibacterial activity of tablets for sucking was carried out by the suspension method which is based on determination the degree of reduction of number of microorganisms. Three strains: Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Candida albicans CNTC 49 were chosen for microbiological tests.
