Wpływ terpenów jako promotorów sorpcji na przezskórne przenikanie leków
2006-10-16

Terpenes as promotion enhancers in transdermal drug penetration. Skin is the site of dermal as well as systemic drug application. Stratum corneum is the major barrier for drug penetration. The skin permeation is limited by properties of drug (i.e. low-molecular weight, lipophility). Even if those requirements are fulfilled it is often impossible to get therapeutic drug concentration in blood. Using chemical absorption promoters results in reversible changes of stratum corneum involving enhancement drug permeation. Terpenes are examples of such substances. In this paper terpenes mechanism of action and some examples of permeation drug enhancement were presented.
