Quality of life in cancer treatment. A paper discusses psychosocial aspects of the quality of cancer patients. It draws especial attention to the great difficulties patients have in accepting the diagnosis of cancer. Most commonly at first appear defense mechanism which depends on the patient's personality. At this stage it is very important to tell the patient everything that may have a positive influence on her/his behavior. Understanding that cancer is a chronic disease will decrease the fear of death and at the same time will eliminate an attitude of a single heroic burst. More and more patients live with cancer for many years and there are long periods without symptoms. Such state of affairs does not need heroism, but demands that the patient adapts to life with the disease.
