The paper reviews the current status of Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS). It focuses on the history of BCS from it's publication in 1995 by G. Amidon to date. The author discusses the scientific basis of BCS, it's presence in current regulatory guidances and impact on the process of designing orally administered drug. The review offers information about the current application of BCS in pharmaceutical sciences.
