Monoclonal antibodies in the therapy of cancer diseases

Cancer development could be considered as the result of the accumulation of DNA changes in the genome. The knowledge of the human genome along with proteome play nowadays increasingly important role. Monoclonal antibodies originating from the current knowledge within the progress of modern molecular biology are now entering into the field of biomedicine as valuable and more and more widely used therapeutics. In this article, clinically significant monoclonal antibodies are described and illustrated focusing on the up-to-date cancer investigations. Some important applications are provided, evidencing the increased scientific excitement in that field of biopharmaceutics.
