Electrophoretically mediated microanalysis in enzymatic reactions
In recent years capillary electrophoresis has become a frequently used tool for enzyme assays, due to its advantages such as small sample consumption, short analysis time and high efficiency. This article gives an overview of the recent developments in the use of electrophoretically mediated microanalysis (EMMA) methodology for the on-line study on enzymatic reactions. The presented examples include the determination of the enzyme activity, substrate identification, investigation of inhibitors and enzyme-mediated metabolic pathways of bioactive molecules.
