Drugs in (Polish) pharmacies and the issue of doping in sports

It is safe to assume that most of the pharmacists follow occasionally or regularly various sporting events. Probably every one of us knows about pharmacological doping. But who thought – how many of those prohibited substances could be found in a pharmacy?

For that reason, an insightful analysis of World Anti-Doping Agency’s testing figures was conducted. Obtained figures were then compared with Register of Medicinal Products (Polish) and presented in a comprehensive table, followed by brief description of selected drugs to bring reader a better understanding of benefits from their illicit usage. As a result, more than 3500 of doping cases is associated with 56 various active pharmaceutical ingredients available for patients, including several OTC products.

Finally, even as brief dip into subject as a lecture of this article could give a different insight at medications dispensed from drugstores, of which many are in fact also doping agents.
