Application of spectrophotometry and densitometry to spectra evaluation of naproxen in UV-VIS range

The aim of this work was to compare naproxen spectra obtained by spectrodensitometric method on different chromatographic sorbents to high performance thin-layer chromatography with naproxen spectra obtained using spectrophotometric method. It was stated that stationary phase applied in thin-layer chromatography affects length of the basic band as well as additional naproxen absorption bands and their intensity determined by spectrodensitometric method. These spectra have five or four absorption bands.The spectra obtained using spectrophotometric method have five absorption bands. Comparison of absorption spectra on various chromatographic sorbents obtained by spectrodensitometric method with spectrophotometric analysis extends the possibility of identification test of naproxen.
