Systematic physical activity is the basis for the prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and directly reduces mortality due to CVD. It is also recommended as a permanent element of healthy people’s lifestyle, which reduces mortality and risk of myocardial infraction. According to the guidelines of the 2016 European Society of Cardiology (ESC), moderate intensity aerobic exercises, including daily activities, such as intensive household work, and exercises such as cycling or brisk walking, are recommended for the prevention of CVD. Regular physical activity is also popular among patients with dyslipidemia using statins to reduce LDL cholesterol. Some studies indicate that physical activity may intensify the skeletal muscle side effects of statin. However, in other studies, it was found that statins do not significantly affect the functioning of skeletal muscles and physical performance parameters. Presently, there are no clear evidence indicating the negative effect of statins therapy on human physical activity.
